The way Onlive works is you download a desktop app that connects you to the Onlive server. The game is streamed to you via the internet. What really surprised me was the lack of lag time between inputing your commands and seeing the action take place on the screen. The response time was like playing a game installed on your computer. I have no idea how they were able to accomplish this, but I ain’t complaining.
All the games can be played for free, but only as a 30 minute demo. However, you can play the demo as many times as you’d like. 30 minutes was almost enough time for a full length basketball game in NBA 2K11. If you really like the game, you can purchase a playpass which will allow you to play the game for 3 or 5 days at a time. If you REALLY like the game, you can purchase the game in full for much less than retail price at a gaming store.
Besides NBA 2K11, Onlive also offers dozens of other top titles including Batman: Arkam Asylum, Assassin’s Creed, Unreal, and many others. You can watch highlight videos posted by other players, and spectate on other players. There are also many more titles coming to Onlive so better join now and grab a snazzy username!

How do you get it to work?
You have to download the onlive launcher and then create an account. That’ll let you connect to the server and play the game.
do you really need internet connection to play,cause i dont think i have internet connection where i live
Yea you do need a high speed internet connection. It streams the game to your screen. Otherwise you’d have to download the entire game!

There is no cdkey, this is played on Onlive, so there is no download or install.

You have to go to onlive.com and download the client, then after you launch it you can start playing. Just make sure your internet connection is good. It should be a cable connection and not wifi, but a solid wifi will allow you to play.
how to download the client
You just sign up for a membership (which is free), and start playing. Remember that only the trial is free so you can play up to 30 minutes at a time. If you want the full game then you’ll have to buy it.

Hmm… that I don’t know. As long as you can sign in you should be able to download the client. Maybe try a different browser?

I use chrome. If you go to onlive.com, you can sign up for an account at the top right corner. As soon as you enter your name and choose a gamer tag, you will be directed to a page where you can download the onlive client. Once you have the client you should be able to start playing.

ok good. i downloaded it..and its pretty good. except i only get 15 min. of a trial for NBA 2k10 and NBA 2k11…but its still a good program, i just gotta figure out how to use a controller with it lol..
Oh did it get reduced? 30 minutes was almost enough for 1 full game. I think perhaps they realized that people were okay with that and weren’t willing to pay. I think you can use a controller if you get the onlive console box. But that’s a more expensive option compared to free.

The client itself shouldn’t. You don’t have to run it when you’re not playing. However, if you don’t have a decently fast computer the games won’t run very well.

That I’m not so sure about. I believe onlive’s servers are here in the U.S., so there could be latency issues for people playing from abroad. But I think you can only sign onto onlive if you live in the U.S. Is that true?
